God I love my library, and they're doing such a good job staying relevant. A newly built library just opened near me a couple years ago and they have a makers space, video/photo editing computer stations, an amazing 3D printer, a laser etching thingy, seriously the list goes on. What's even better is that the classes to learn how to use all of the stuff are free and offered pretty regularly.

The day I learned that my blood type is AB+ was the day I gained the greatest excuse of my life. "It's not my fault, I'm genetically wired to be selfish."

You're not alone! This is a hard and sometimes scary thing to do. Don't do it alone, look in to "somatic experiencing" therapy. This is a specific method of therapy where a trained therapist helps you to slowly build your threshold for emotion without causing overwhelm. It's genuinely the only therapy that has made me feel like I'm actually becoming a stronger and more capable person.

I definitely read that as "seven steps for babies", because apparently my brain forgot that 'baby steps' is a common phrase, and I was really confused for a solid minute.

I beckon the the lost and searching to my domain, each comes to me hoping to fill a void. As they meander through rows of trinkets they graze their fingers across the products born of despair and only too late realize that what I've sold them wrapped in the thin foil of hope is not some sliver of relief, but yet another void. Will we ever know? 8 comments

This question was actually answered when medical science advanced enough to give some people, who were born blind, the ability to see. The answer is no, they are not able to tell by sight which object is which the first time they are presented with the question.

She probably didn't understand because of the extensive brain damage she suffered from the multiple times her mother tried to poison her, or maybe it was the trauma from the fact that her mother also frequently sold her off to service her 'clients' in the bedroom and had been doing so since the girl was 4 years old. The entire story of this case is tragic.

What really helps is to re-frame the embarrassing event into something proactive. Like, 'that was so embarrassing what I did, but now that it happened I'll know to never do that again.' It helps me with my anxiety.

first, did you mean *pervy? Second, one of the reasons sexual slavery is such a problem is because when the slaves go to the police they fear being prosecuted for prostitution (which they often are) so they don't reach out for help. By legalizing sex work you give the victims a better chance to reach for freedom.

We loved with a love that was more than love 20 comments

This may be cheesy, but when you can love yourself like this first, the rest of it doesn't matter as much. Take yourself out on a date, give yourself little complements, bring yourself some flowers, and never forget to tell yourself "I love me"

Seriously, they need to do something like a yearly assembly at middle and high schools like, "yeah, so, you might think we're overreacting but seriously the FBI WILL get involved. Really."

Research is ongoing as to whether it is the color of the lights that is decreasing crime and suicide, or if simply by making such a drastic change in something so obvious people feel as if their behavior is being monitored. The effects have not been studied enough to show if crime and suicide rates will remain statistically lower or if they will return to pre-change numbers after the novelty has worn out, but initial results are promising.
