Computers do start counting with zero. Saying that the first slot beint zero is different from starting counting with zero is literally saying the first number being zero instead of one isn't counting starting with zero.
Measuring does start with zero. All measuring devices i.e. Rulers etc start with zero and go to the to the inch etc away from the starting point.
Whether or not zero is the lack of a number depends on a lot including what language you are speaking and what context you are speaking it.

Idk where you went to high school but where I'm from fucking seemed to happen everywhere. Hell a couple got suspended for getting caught fucking in the stairwell in freshman year and one of the coaches class room had a large amount of times where a couple would be seen leaving with their pants being pulled up.

Computers start counting at 0. Also when you are measuring distance you start at 0. There's the start point of the measurement (the ground floor) and then the first floor up from that then the second, then the third, etc. personally the American system is what I'd use if asking what floor I'm on (cause I'm 'merican) but there is a logic to their system as well.
