I mean, obviously if I'm standing on the edge a cliff I'll be cautious to avoid falling because I don't want to die, but if I have a parachute on then I'll jump off that cliff without much hesitation.

Pretty soon a fear of heights or falling will becoming a "disability" and skyscrapers will become offensive, stupid example but you get the gist. Stop enabling weakness, teach people to overcome weaknesses and fears and better themselves. Stop holding yourself back from experiencing something fun and new just because it might make you a little uncomfortable for a few moments. Irrational fears are just pathetic, ie: when somebody sees a random harmless garden spider and they freeze up, like seriously? If it was a black widow then yeah, be cautious and avoid but a silly little bug just living it's own life completely unaware of your existence? Just let it go and move on.
