I don't know, I'm asking quora
rydler · 6 years ago
I couldn't find it on google. I think it's really cool that people can actually trick their minds like that.

I've become very good at lying to myself, sadly. I think I have an overactive imagination; it may relate to my maladaptive daydreaming

It is part of imagination, yes. What is maladaptive daydreaming?
silvermyth · 6 years ago
An elavorate and vivid story filled with characters and friends, only it's all in your head. It's an escape.

Hmm. That could be a part of it. What do you mean lying to yourself? If i may.
silvermyth · 6 years ago
I don't like remembering certain things so I create replacement memories. I've almost totally tricked myself. Sometimes I forget I made it all up!

That's pretty normal. Filling gaps where you can't remember things with stuff you wanted/wished happened. I do something similar. I can take something I've seen or heard, then remember it from my point of view, although it never happened. I don't see anything wrong with it, unless it hurts someone else purposefully.

I've made a lot of nice memories with myself

Which one is your favorite?
silvermyth · 6 years ago
Me and two friends are in a field of heather, looking to the sea and joking.

@silvermyth, thanks for mentioning the maladaptive daydreaming. I've done that since I was a kid and never knew what to call it or how to explain it to people. I always thought I'd grow out of it eventually but haven't yet. Now I have something to research though and maybe that'll help.
silvermyth · 6 years ago
You'll find a huge community of people who have it also. I only just recently found out myself.

Neat. That'll be cool to talk to people who understand.

My favorite memory is "For Forever" from Dear Evan Hansen. I can literally picture and feel it. Good song. Great play.

I associate songs with people in my daydreams. One person, who in real life I said goodbye to a long time ago, lives on in the daydream and is tied to Dragostea din tei. Another character is an alternate version of myself, and he's tied to the song Europe's skies.
I know what you mean with the songs. I might listen to your song.

I FB I girl from awhile ago and I don't feel bad; she started it.

The song is about Evan Hansen, making up the day he broke his arm. He says that it happened while he was having fun with his friend Connor, and makes up a whole day around it. They got ice cream, sat and talked in a field, ran around, and climbed a tree. I picture this with one of my friends, because it's literally the kind of friendship I want with them.

I'm going to listen as soon as I get the chance
