Idk what yall can do bout this but im done. I turned my lds mission papers in and opened my calling today. Everyone for weeks has been talking about languages or foreign places and so many things happened to make me believe that. I got Cincinnati Ohio English speaking. The only thing I felt when reading that was my heart drop. I had to hide a fake ass smile the whole time talking to them. No one showed excitement for my call. I knew some kids who used to be the biggest dick heads on campus they bullied the shiz outta me. One of them is going in the Alpine mission which is Germany, Switzerland, and Czechoslovakia German speaking. The other kids are going Stockholm Swedish speaking, and South Africa native dialects. All really cool missions and i get fucking Cincinnati Ohio. I prayed for god so hard and demanded he answer but I felt nothing. I am just so distraught that I cant describe it. 2 Years in Cincinnati my one mission that everyone told me to look forward to. I feel so dead insid

So make the best of it. Be glad you have somewhere to go and make it a good two years. It sucks that you don't get to go to locations you wanted to go to but maybe Ohio is better than everywhere else. Maybe there is a reason you got picked for Ohio, ever think of that?

I may have fallen away from the lds church but I know for a fact that there are plenty of opportunities to spread the gospel in Cincinnati and I know what it means too get a foriegn mission. If I was still planning on going on a mission I would definitely have wanted to go on a foriegn mission and would've been disappointed with anywhere in the states. But remember that there's someone waiting for you, YOU, in Cincinnati. No one else, you are the one who will get through to them and there's so much you can do to help the people in that city. There's over 300,000 people in Cincinnati, there will definitely be people to do service for every day and you might be the light in the darkness for them. I don't know if this helps but know that God has a plan for you, it doesn't matter my beliefs as long as you know that God planned for you to go to Cincinnati.

Also as a person who lives in the midwest Cincinnati is fucking awesome. They have King's Island which is way better than what Indiana has too offer. Also if while you're in Cincinnati you come across the Hamlins tell them the Laws say hi.

Remember, it's not where you go, it's the message you spread. God has a plan for sending you there. I know it sounds like it will be uneventful, but those two years will be amazing. I live just south of Provo and have had missionaries, think how useless they feel their mission is, but they found us and that's what God had planned. You will be doing great works, even if it's not a foreign country. (P.S. languages are hard!)

I’m not a Latter Day Saint so I don’t know how the missions placement process works but I wanted to offer thoughts because I know how transformative it is to live overseas. Suggestion #1 - Go back to your church leaders and present a solid case for why an overseas mission will benefit both your church and your god. Remove what you want to get from the conversation and focus your entire argument about what they will gain. Suggestion #2 - Transfer to another church and tell them that you want an overseas assignment conditional upon you joining them, again framing it about how their church will benefit from doing this.

Sugestion #3 - Join the Peace Corps either now or after your mission and use that time to ‘do good’ and see another country. Suggestion #4 - Make peace with this decision and understand that this is where your god wants you to be to implement its will on earth. You seem to like rap music. That could be a great entry point for conversations about LDS with the some of the people you’ll meet. Regardless of the outcome, I hope that you find peace with what happens next and, most importantly, that your mission allows you to leave your mark on earth and do whatever you were put here to do to change others’ lives for the better.
