Every once in a while I catch my 80lb Australian Shepherd sitting on the middle step of the stair steps, but he's so big, his back legs hang off the edge of the step and he just stares into the distance for a long time like he's contemplating his own existence. It's very amusing.

I usually follow what the customer is going for. If they hand me the money, I hand it back. If they put the money down and seem distracted, then I take it and put the change in it's place.

I think the social pressure isn't so much having kids but having the 'ideal amount' of 1-3 kids and fitting in. Because I love kids and I want kids when I grow up, but when I tell someone I want five or more kids, I get the "are you crazy?" look. So it probably goes both ways.
