Thanks for confirming. I'd thought it was Cooper but wasn't sure.

I like using it to get familiar with a city I'm going to vacation in...did that for New Orleans and Savannah, really convenient once I got there. And Prague is at the top of my list once I start visiting Europe, but that's a few years away. So I used it to walk the city, it's so beautiful. And Google Earth now works with two different VR platforms (and I think the little blue dots that are 360 views of a single spot in places already work with Google Cardboard). Btw, if you haven't tried Google Cardboard and its travel apps, you should!

Supermarket removes all foreign products 46 comments

I've never heard a single Trump supporter say they wanted to stop all immigration, and I've never come across Trump saying that. Nobody cares about legal immigration. But the "hating illegal immigration is a stepping stone to stopping all immigration" is a far left scare tactic that they love to use.

I feel like this intentionally misses the point that 75% of people calling for border enforcement of their countries make. For some reason, the more liberal groups like to purposefully misrepresent "I am against illegal immigration" to mean "I am against all immigration and trade." Doing so is inflammatory and causes immediate pushback, solving absolutely nothing. All this display says to me is "I read an article that says white people in Germany hate everybody. But how can I uselessly apply this clickbait to real life?"

How to package oranges 10 comments

These aren't provided for convenience. They're for arthritic or disabled people who can't peel an orange. Those people do exist, you'll notice if you leave your house.

I like looking at tourist sites and pamphlets for my city because you can tell they probably gave all the homeless people free lunch that day to get them out of the pictures then Photoshopped out all the trash.

If it's hot out, just wear the shorts. 90% of people won't care, and the 10% that do probably have strokes over things like brightly colored hair dye and tattoos anyway. Nobody cares if your legs are hairy. As for your balls...they now have a thing called a Ta Ta Towel for women's boobs, where's the entrepreneurial genius who's going to release the Testicle Towel?

As a woman who doesn't give a damn about fashion, I'm confused by this weird stereotype. 8 comments

Trends are usually cuts, colors, and styles, not specific items. Women follow trends (skinny jeans, open-toed wedges, maxi skirt, etc), and don't mind wearing a similar style as another woman with her own twist. But nobody wants to show up to the barbecue wearing the exact same white Levi's skinny jeans with distress hole over the knee as Carla.

Engineer solves the hot/cold tap problem 14 comments

Well, here it's two taps and one faucet, I've never personally seen two faucets. I think if I was anywhere that had two I'd probably have to fill the sink halfway to not burn my hands.

What else is she supposed to do? 9 comments

That shit costs money, damn right I'm drinking as much of it as I can. Though, I think I probably would have just checked it into my luggage if I could for my destination. If you really need to drink before you get on a plane, there are bars at terminals. It just costs you more.

Yeah, I think only if you're disruptive they stop you. Lots of planes themselves actually have alcohol for purchase, and once you're through the security line there are usually a bunch of bars and stuff at the terminals of lots of airports. Stopping somebody just because they've been drinking if they aren't causing any danger is kind of pointless.

Just lay it out casually when you're talking about hobbies. "One of the things I like is card games...things like Cards Against Humanity, and Magick, and YuGiOh, that kind of thing." If one of the things you really like to do is a deal-breaker for her, then you probably don't want to date her anyway.

I still don't understand the hot tap/cold tap thing. How do you use those? I mean, do you move your hands back and forth real quick between the two to get them decently clean without scalding off your skin, or do you fill the sink with the mixed water to wash your hands or what?

Americans really love their flags 51 comments
dancadamorte · 6 years ago
First: They weren't "surrounded by flames." The fire was a few hundred yards away, they were doing preventative spraying with the hose. As in, they were there attempting to protect the property in that area and stop the fire from spreading to it. They weren't being stupid or dangerous to save the flag, they were professionals keeping an eye on a nearby fire anyway. Second: It IS a waving piece of fabric, near a fire where embers are flitting around, in an area they were trying to contain. Removing stray cloth or flammable materials that are close enough to a house to start a fire if they light up is a preventative measure. They probably could have hosed it down to stop it from catching fire, but it was an American flag. Firefighting, police work, and military work tend to run in families. It wouldn't be a stretch to say those firemen might have friends or family in the military and wanted to respect it by taking it down since they had the chance, instead of dousing it with water.

Well, a hunger strike isn't a crime, which is something they were jailed and force-fed for. So, no, I mean "lots of them were jailed to try and curtail the movement." Because while some of them were committing crimes as well, that wasn't the sole reason for the jailing. But thanks for playing.

Because tons of people still see an attractive body--male or female--and think it's not fair that they can't have that/look like that so they do anything to put them down. "Ugh, he's such a Chad," because how dare a man be attractive and use it to impress girls the neckbeards want? "Ew, she's such a slut," because how dare a woman be attractive and like having sex with all those guys the frumpy girls can't get to look at them? Getting worked up over what a stranger looks like/dresses like/chooses to do seems to be a trait of people who aren't on that level and want to pull people down.
