It's always interesting to me how many people have such a distaste for rap/hip-hop. When I was a teen in the late 90's and early 00's, hip-hop was THE music to listen to, and it was "other" people who didn't like it. Now, I am in the distinct minority with my affinity for the genre, at least in my current social circles.
it's because it's lost it's roots and gone so downhill. there will always be a passionate following for it though because there are still those true hip hop artists out there.
Rap has deteriorated to the point where songs like Anaconda are actually enjoyed. The only rappers i actually find worth listening to are Macklemore and Eminem
Even they're conforming to what the people want and not what they're known for. Eminem was known for his early music videos because they were very different from other artists videos. Now he's usung stronger emphases on rock and electric guitar. The majority of teens and such today listen to rock or metal.
eminem absolutely killed the track drop the world. just because he does songs with people like lil wayne doesn't mean he's lost any of his lyrical genius. i have to disagree with macklemore slightly just because he doesn't really understand true hip hop, but lowkey, immortal technique, and logic are all good. other good ones are hopsin and tech n9ne. two of the realest right there
well, I like classic rock- because it could still be positive and stuff. nowadays it's always depressing and quite often about beating up your girlfriend or boyfriend if they cheat on you :/
