Yeah, she was two. Dogs are pretty much full grown by then, and they do start training them VERY early on. Also, they probably needed all the search dogs they could get, right?
They continuously had to have new dogs come out and switch out with other dogs because rescue dogs wouldn't find anyone alive and would become extremely deterred and distraught because they thought they were failing their jobs. It got so bad that workers and Emergency Service people would hide in the rubble just for the dogs to find someone who was actually alive. It was a tragic experience even for the dogs.
