Shoes on telephone wire means someone died there? Thats what I thought it meant

they can also be used to show a 'turf' line -- like dogs pissin' on trees

I've seen those in the cinty centre and I think it's just how overly-enthusiastic tourists like to celebrate their own dumbness.

Wtffffffff... My school is right next to this apartment that has a ton of creepy people living in it. There is this really sketchy alley between that has a telephone wire going through that is right next to the window in one of my classrooms and there are shoes hanging on it. Oh god...

This is definitely not true in general, but you never know about certain town/neighborhoods.

I've been around a lot, and I've heard all kinds of tales, stories, and claims about the meaning of shoes on a telephone wire. I've deducted that people do it, and then come up with a story about what it means.

There used to be shoes on the wire in front of my old apartment.

That's one more way for bullies to torment their victims. Think about it...what are the chances that this "secret" way to find drugs ISN'T known by the police.
