I used this tactic throughout middle school to make bullies go away. There was one incident in sixth grade where I was casually talking to myself and making hand gestures when this mean girl says, "You're so weird." Without skipping a beat, I responded, "Thank you!" and with a confused expression on her face, she said,"No, that wasn't a compliment." I just looked her straight in the eye and said,"That was the best compliment ever," and she walked away.
