They need a seat because they are carrying and extra 30 pounds or someone and are tired. If you are a perfectly healthy twenty, thirty, forty, and maybe even fifty year old you should always always offer your seat to someone who is pregnant, elderly, or has an obvious physical impediment. It won't hurt you to stand for 5 or 10 minutes but it could hurt them.

I'm glad you guys agree with me that it was stupid for the OP to use the word "deserve". You were oddly caustic about it, though.
