If every other minority can be proud of where they come from, why can't white people. I'm a third German, and a tad bit Irish. Yeah I'm a mutt of most everything else, but if being Asian is being more than just Chinese, and if being Hispanic is being more than just Mexican, why can't being white be more than just American?
Hispanics are people that are descended or related to spain. Latinos are people that live in the new world and speak a romantic language. Latinos are predominantly Hispanic, with Portuguese a distant second.
