They only use the map when sneaking around late at night so there's no need to flip open the part where the dormitories are.

But assuming they did actually see this, weren't they like 12 or 13 in the first book/movie? I'd be a little worried then if my 12 year old pre-pubesent brother was sleeping with another man I've never heard of every night

Yeah, I would too. But, if they only used at certain times, while Ron was around, they would've seen that even though Peter shows up on the map, there isn't anybody around that is named Peter. If they would've said something, it would've ruined the whole plot of the story, so I'm sure they noticed, but didn't say anything.

That why I said *assuming* they saw it. You have to try and justify them never having seen it, bc if they did, again it would probably ruin the story. Bit of a plot hole imo.
