Buster Keaton did it first

Buster Keaton. He was an awesome silent movie star, he was just before Charlie Chaplin but he's just as funny.

That's not his real name though. It was given to him by Houdini after he fell down a flight of stairs (his parents worked for Houdini when he was a child). There was a phrase at the time when someone had a bad fall: "that was a real buster." That's how the nickname came about.
