It's not a contest. A teacher shapes the future, a firefighter can stop the destruction of whole cities. A paramedic saves your grandma when she slips in the shower, a nurse makes sure you are well and administers your care. Many people contribute to society. Without each important element of our society it wouldn't function. In one moment a police officer could be the last thing thing you want to see and in another they can be your hero. Amongst these groups some better exemplify the ideals of the job, but taking out the "bad days and bad eggs" and leaving the political manipulation of others out; largely what you have are groups of people who are just human, doing jobs which society doesn't always reward or appreciate for how integral they are, but none the less facing challenges daily to hold up our society and way of life. I am thankful to all the people in all the ways they make my life possible. From retail workers, to sanitation people, to soldiers, teachers, and more.
