I saw one of these in Kentucky USA while camping with friends and almost had a heart attack. I thought it was poisonous. Turns out it's not, just VERY big and VERY colorful

Cecropia caterpillars are lovely. We kept one as a pet at work (apple orchard) one summer. It went through fun changes, the colored knobs swell and sink into the body. They metamorph into big brown moths but I didn't stay around long enough to see that.

I love caterpillars but I am absolutely terrified of moths. I'm glad I just saw the cute little green dude.

Just googled... their wings are gorgeous but I'd have a heart attacks if that huge fluffy body flew towards me....
