After multiple sites covered this story, one in particular noticed how utterly one-sided it was and reached out to maddie herself and basically the dude was pretty shitty and they were constantly fighting and she was already trying to break up with him, and he planned this proposal in an attempt to quell the fight but obviously it didnt work.
