This is like the fifth time I've seen a pic of one of these cheeky little shits pulling out someone's keyboards and I gotta wonder why y'all keep letting your birds on your laptops

Why get a bird and not a cat or turtle, birds are kinda mean.
And why are you leaving you laptop open when you are obviously not using it? They are lucky it the keyboard and not the screen or housing its tearing up.
@braydenlane Because they are company, of sorts, and are usually exempt from "no pets" restrictions in apartments ect.
I don't think birds are mean necessarily, they just live differently and interact differently to a degree than mammals and a lot of people that own them don't necessary keep them in optimal conditions so they end up being bored, lonely, and restless, on top of being naturally inquisitive. In the wild most birds are constantly interacting with various members of their species, flitting about, and picking and pulling at things and grooming and just keeping busy in general.

I remember seeing once what was more of less an insane asylum/refuge that had been opened to rescue birds (parrots usually) that had been so neglected by owners they had literally gone insane and lost the ability to interact normally (many were resorting to self harm as well)
Birds can be just as affectionate as any other animal, they just have a more limited ability to display it. In 5th grade I got a dove from my science teachers mated pair. I swear my mom liked her more than me. She would sing and coo along with Mom's singing or whistling, especially every morning, and try to groom mom when ever she was at her cage. She could laugh eerily like a human. We were originally told she would live about 12 years. She passed away last Spring at the age of 23.
Ofc, I wasn't trying to say they make bad pets at all, or that they're not affectionate. They're actually the opposite-- they're super social and loving and needy, but a lot of people don't fully comprehend how they interact or what they need which can cause issues.

That's a really sweet story also :) it sounds like she had a happy life
I know, I saw more adding to your comment about their almost human pyches. She was very well loved and she ruled the animals. She even had my cats (15 and 13, though we lost him as well this year) well cowed. They knew better than to go near her cage or she would flap and do her scary laugh and they would hail butt. Even my dog, who was less than a year old, knew better than to touch her cage and that brat actually ATE a loveseat. But the 1lb dove intimidated her.
My male cat is terrified of female cats and kittens, basically smaller animals. With dogs he thinks he's a damn tiger or something and attacks. My dog is 70lb+ pit who is terrified of the cat, but still wants to play.
