But I've seen the female versions: legging (leggings =/= yoga pants), booty shorts which is basically a demin underwear

I wear boxers as shorts and go out sometimes. But, I never to great distances, I just go a little past my house.
I have. There was a man (now retired) at my work who would go running at lunch in his boxers. Gawd help you if you happened to be walking down the hall when he would bend over to get a drink from the water fountain.
I mean one thing is dressing like a hooker and another thing is wearing underwear as shorts. When u see someone dressed like a hooker u just think "how classy" (/s) but when you see someone in their underwear you're a little weirded out, no?
