Where is this? That's a tower, not a castle. They were built on large hills by noblemen so everyone would notice their wealth and power. Nobody ever lived there
This is Broadway Tower, Worcestershire, England built in 1799. In architectural terms this is a "folly" as the building was built for decorative purposes. Lady Coventry built it because the hill was a beacon hill and she wanted to see if a beacon lit from the tower could be seen from her house. The answer was "yes". Y'all can rest easy now.
