Hey, Ive seen this one before! In fact I commented about how common sense isn't around anymore and everybody needs retarded safety items to keep their shitty genes from offing themselves.
I think a lot has to do with the insurance companies covering their asses by refusing to cover you if there's a chance that negligence can be shown. Even then, insurance companies will charge through the roof. Many smaller towns are getting rid of playground equipment because they can't afford the liability insurance.
They had ones like these on the Isle of Wight (Alum Bay in particular), and I was terrified to go on them. I nearly lost a shoe while riding it the once.
Wasn't even 60 years ago, either (obviously, I'm nowhere near that age), they had them at least 8 years ago, but Idk if they're still there because I haven't been back for a while.
