As a former atheist, these were the kind of atheists that made people not like us. They complain about how intolerant Christians are, but are also intolerant towards Christians. It's all just one big stupid circle of hate.
I find this offensive! We all know the flying spaghetti monster is the one true god. It clearly states "On the first day, the Flying Spaghetti Monster separated the water from the heavens; on the second, because He could not tread water for long and had grown tired of flying, He created the land—complemented by a beer volcano. Satisfied, the Flying Spaghetti Monster overindulged in beer from the beer volcano and woke up hungover. Between drunken nights and clumsy afternoons, the Flying Spaghetti Monster produced seas and land (for a second time, accidentally, because he forgot that he created it the day before) along with Heaven and a midget, which he named Man. Man and an equally short woman lived happily in the Olive Garden of Eden for some time until the Flying Spaghetti Monster caused a global flood in a cooking accident."
No the professor wasn't acting like an idiot simply by not believing in God but he had the guts to try and test God's power, which goes directly against the word of Jesus Christ. Faith is believing without seeing. That marine has FAITH.
If you don't believe in god, who gives a fuck about the "word of jesus christ"? Good for him and his faith, but he's an ignorant fuck for punching someone..
He not a bad guy for being atheist, but for acting all high and mighty about it. None of our beliefs can be 100% proven, so there's no point in acting like your religious beliefs are correct and everyone around you is an idiot for believing otherwise.
It's not that he doesn't believe in God that made him an idiot, there are plenty of atheists that just don't believe in God and don't make a huge deal about it. He decided to try to prove a point, wasting all of the students time for 15 minutes, for a class that they are paying him to teach. He's shoving his religion in all those students faces, just as much as a person shoving a bible in an atheists face is with their religion. He asked for God to knock him off his platform, well he got knocked off his platform didnt he?
You are constitutionally allowed to believe in whatever religion (or lack thereof) that you want to. You are allowed to scrutinize other people's religions (that's all that religions fucking do). You are allowed to defend your religion, so long as you do so in a nonviolent manner. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO FUCKING ASSAULT PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY QUESTION THE VALIDITY OF YOUR IMAGINARY FRIEND.
Granted that punching people isn't usually the best course of action, but the professor was acting like a douchebag too. What goes around, comes around, I suppose.
And there's the fact that the students probably paid a lot of money to take that class from him, and wasting 15 minutes of their time just to be a prick is understandably maddening.
Finally someone under stands that it's not all down to one person and if your not going to do something no one will. I'm not sure If this is what you meant by that if not pleas explain what you meant
