A vote by the ignorant or an action carries no less weight than those of anyone else.

@kouyaaotsuki- here's a more recent story. There was once a law abiding man who'd never been in trouble. He was accused of a crime because he was nearby and the wrong race. He spent 30 years in jail. His first trial was filled with errors, his second was AFTER the man who did it confessed to the crime and stated he did it to get revenge for a small debt he was owed. The innocent man was still not freed until years later after many appeals, with the prosecution refusing to fight the case on grounds he was clearly innocent, and they couldn't believe none of his lawyers ever brought up obvious trial facts that proved it. He lost 30 years to bigotry, ignorance, and stupidity. That's probably why wise monk types live in seclusion- so they don't have to deal with all the adamantly ignorant who shape society. For the rest of us living in life we must do as he did- and spend 30 years if we must to try to educate those who believe in 3 seasons- because ignorance can be dangerous.

All people come from Africa near as science can figure to start. Secondly- most people consider Russians white and they are from Asia, not Europe, just as an example. "Black" and "white" are social constructs not precise classifications that can be used to dertermine anything about a person beyond how much melanin they have compared to the speaker. In many places in the world Cubans and Latin Americans are also called "black." At the first guest- it is common at the moment but many terms including sluts have been common and acceptable for different groups. Words like these change through usage, and through people being conscious of these things. As we see here in this thread- many are sadly misinformed, or ignorant.

Correlation doesn't equal causality. What's interesting is it never says it is scientific- "survey says." Who was surveyed? How many people? What were the questions? Purpose? Context, parameters? If they asked 3 guys with a beard outside a meeting for sec addicts if they lied cheated and stole, then asked 3 beardless guys in a church in front of their wives the same- that's a "survey" and it would have one likely outcome. Hyperbole of course, but the way a survey is done, who is sampled, where, and sample size is critical. Also as you say- it's bullshit pseudo science at best, but essentially a buzz feed quiz they're trying to pass off as an acedemic study.

I suspect if you open your history book you'll find 200 years of European colonialism which has shaped the modern world as it is today- Before America was a country, before it was a colony, before it was a place with its own culture and "Americans" Europeans stole America from the natives and made it theirs. Then the Americans stole it from Europe and the rest from everyone else. So when people bitch about America and how great xyz country is- what I hear is people mad that after almost every country on earth having been a powerful empire or rape, pillage, broken deals and slavery, they're mad at America for taking the head seat at the table. America isn't perfect, America does have flaws. So does every other country on earth.

I won't deny The US is far from perfect. But- Middle East: British colonialism. Mandatory Palestine created by the U.K. Leading to the Creation of Israel and the Palestine crisis. Poor administration and racism by U.K. Created the Palestinian conflicts.
Turkish civil war and related rebels created by British screwing Turkey over on independence deal they made. Russian occupation of Afghanistan led to the Taliban and other groups which the US did fund and train as freedom fighters and to spite the Russians. Middle East- US shares blame- didn't start the problem. Both World wars- WW2 the US. Came late to the party and the Russians were a major force in the European war, but unequivocally without US lend lease and other support before our trooos hit the ground the UK would have folded very early on. It was a world war, not a pissing contest and I'm sure whatever "shit all" America did the allies wouldn't have asked them to just go home in 1943-45.

Lol. Not internet "nuh uh" but I can honestly say I did. Some didn't completely sink in at the time, but over the years as I milked things over, or later thinking back I came to understand the things I was being taught. I'm not personally into the more "inspirational" aspects of the idea of discovery but the practical. I believe there's wonder in childhood we should let kids enjoy while they can- but we should treat kids of all ages as intelligent as we might an adult. Thinking is a skill we learn. 5 is likely to young to master deep or critical thought but it's not too young to start forming pathways and learning to put things into perspective. You may not understand at the time- just as many teens don't understand things going on around them completely until they're older, and many don't understand their parents until they become parents themselves- but you can plant the seed.

That's cool. Any particular subject/grade you have in mind to teach? The great news is yeah- if you're planning to be an educator there are a whole bunch of programs and foundations aimed at helping you get there. There are also many financiers and banks which offer special programs for teachers.

Yeah. It's not like any Germans or Russians could still be alive who participated in mass genocides. That "little thing" in the Congo, Sierra Leone, etc through the 80's-00's, nah. Cutting off women's breasts so they can't feed their children isn't nearly as barbaric as some sexist laws. Of course- in Germany marital rape wasn't illegal until 1997- long after the US, and Europe has higher sexual assault and much higher assault in the workplace, with international human rights groups condemning several European governments for their stance and blind eye to the issues... but nah. America is the worst. It's not like other countries have problems, or places people like you don't care about see worse rights violations. Or maybe America isn't perfect but people are trying to change it, and no where is perfect. Perhaps life is different on your private island though away from a world of barbarians.

I don't know why you got downvoted. I will say that I wouldn't consider it racist to consider oneself African American without confirmation, just as many claim to be a certain ethnicity from anecdotal evidence or family lore, then find out through DNA tests or other proof they aren't of the ancestry they think they are. But externally yes. You can't assume a country or continent of origin just by looking at most any person.

Many self identify as American while not abroad too. There's two parts to the equation- what others call us, and what we call ourselves. Not every person of Irish decent calls themselves Irish American either, not every lighter skinned person identifies as white, and may be a mix of things or just a lighter skinned member of a group usually not considered "white" such as Latino or Hispanic. The point is that the original question is nonsense.

What most call "Black people" generally come from many places, Africa is one, so is Jamaica, some call Haitians black, and so on. So "black people" are not all African American, having about as much origins in Africa as an Irish or Chinese person. We don't generally call Egyptians black or African despite them being from... Africa Africa is not a country. But many "blacks" in America lost trace of their ancestry due to slavery- so can't say "I'm Namibian American" and most Americans traditionally didn't care where in Africa- you were just black and they assumed from Africa. If you've ever heard of Octoberfest or a St Patrick's day parade you may know we generally don't have "European Americans" we have Irish Americans, German Americans, Polish Americans, Italian Americans- so on, as those identifying as such generally can trace their ancestry and culture from the old country to America, or at least claim to. "Black" and "white" are slang for people of certain traits and nothing more.

There's a few options. Beyond all sorts of scholarships there's economic qualified help like FAFSA, and public colleges do have financial aid that only needs repaid if you don't finish your degree or take too long. The other word you may be searching for is a grant. They tend to not be as common or as much as other aids, but every bit helps. Community college often has much more available in aid, so 2 years of Jc and completing your major at a university will still give you a degree with a fancy name on it. Another one to look at is many employers offer tuition aid, or reimbursement. Target used to pay up to $7000 a semester to employees seeking a CPA, and would pay the CPA fees yearly for as long as you were employed by them. Their founders wife or something was big on CPA stuff or something so they have a sort of foundation thing. Lots of options, just gotta look, work, and be lucky. Best wishes on the hunt rogue.

Age has never made anyone grow up, and looking around I see plenty of adults who don't seem to see long term things very well. Experience is what teaches us, years just give more chances to accumulate experience. I can't tell anyone "the way" to raise kids, whatever works does. What I can say is that this person is old enough to remember this, so they were older enough to learn. In my opinion it's a missed opportunity to grow. Here we replace thought, personal discovery, or dialog with a technique to teach dogs and pidgeons to act as we want without conscious thought- only simple impulse.

I don't know if I'd go so far as to be awed. How much knowledge is really in that room? Assuming new graduates not working in their fields, the "knowledge" they have is mostly whatever they read or picked up from teachers in a standardized program. Now we assume at least two people must share a major- their knowledge base and program are similar enough that their knowledge isn't additive. Their intelligence and opinions may be but not the knowledge. So now we can safely say the total knowledge in the room is roughly equivalent to a room full of their teachers and or a stack of books or no greater than the combined knowledge of any large group of people- google is free and can provide any of the above information- so I might rephrase it not as knowledge, but a room full of people who's minds have been trained to a certain way of thinking that may help them succeed in a given field.

And as a continent or country "America" doesn't exist. The United States of America is one of several countries on the North American continent along with Mexico and Canada. At least if you said it starts with a "T" I may disagree but you could have a basis to stand on.

I wish people would stop with the school crap. Your intelligence in school just as in anything else is determined by what you get from it. If all you learn is how to follow directions you've demonstrated to yourself and the world that is all you can see in the situation or are capable of. An intelligent person would find a way to make it productive for themselves. That's the test of school- using it in a way that helps achieve intelligent goals.
