Hunger games 6 comments

Yeah. Maybe it’s an age thing. I didn’t even think hunger games, I thought: “$120 for a trim and style?! Oh well. I know this is going to be the best haircut of my life, and some juicy gossip.”

On the one hand- there are already countries that do not allow vegan dairy products to use the names of real dairy products, and there’s something to be said about transparency in food. I feel people have the right to know in plain language what they are eating, it’s wrong to “hide” animal products in vegan foods and by the same token you should know if your animal products are cut with plants. That said- this is just BS riding on an anti vegan popular sentiment. They can treat meat with ammonia and not disclose it, they can use “fillers” in hot dogs, hamburgers, and “processed meat products” and not tell you. They don’t even have to tell you what part of an animal you’re really getting or what percent. They can use meat glue to assemble cuts from scraps, and most of the worlds fish is fake. But suuure... a good place to start is by making sure you can’t sell “tofu steak.” I’d support this as part of a larger comprehensive reform on food labeling, but not on its own.

It was people. Both systems are just theories, tools, farts in the wind. People are the mechanism through which ideals are executed. Of the two however, communism by its nature requires a massive and strong centralized government. That centralization and the level of integration to daily life required lend themselves to abuse of a massive scale quite easily. Of the two capitalism never said it would give control to the masses or abolish inequity. Capitalism says it will reward innovation and hard jwork with comfort and freedom. Of course in practice both systems get perverted and don’t work true to as advertised.

If this is a contract case it’s really simple. It doesn’t matter if you intended for me to use factory glass on your phone repair. If I never said I’d use factory glass, you never specified factory glass, and you came back for 7 repairs the case is pretty much closed. But considering she was at work and where she works, and that customer interaction is part of the job- contract is unlikely verbal or otherwise. It’s likeky a tip, and tips are tips. Hence #3. Case closed. To the stripper analogy if she tells you it’ll be the “best dance of your life”, or she’ll “make you feel good” and afterwards you don’t- you don’t get a refund, MAYBE you could push for the fee back but not any tips. But to intent the first question of a judge would be “why does it need to be real alchohol?” The obvious answer is “to get her drunk.” A judge isn’t going to enforce that any more than if you buy a woman a drink at a club and she turns around and gives it to her boyfriend.

That’s a no for me too dog. I understand wanting it to be a surprise- but there are lots of ways to make it a surprise while letting a parent know up front. The principal of the thing is enough- but for some people $14 is a lot of money in their budget and that isn’t fair to them.

Normal is relative is the point. What is normal for you is not normal for others as you have stated.

Justify on what grounds? Even IF a court considers an offer to pay to drink shots a verbal contract- and IF those weren’t almost unenforceable- and IF the court doesn’t rule its a tip but constitutes a contract or employment situation- All the details we have on the verbal contract between them don’t stipulate what she’d drink- and if it was left to lady’s choice; she chose water. In most states it is illegal to drink on the job for bar staff anyway- so she has a legal obligation not to drink alchohol. IF he was charged for her shots as shots of alchohol- he has a case against the bar for a refund for the shot cost and possible legal penalties. But her, for what? If anyone with a few drinks in them could get money back for findin out their fantasy wasn’t reality- don’t you think people would have successfully sued strip clibs out of business by now?

What’s that one post? The one about if every word you said was tattooed on your body? I feel like this is something similar. Like of the way you looked reflected the inner you. I don’t know why- but he just looks right here to me. Like if that guy said he wanted to build a giant wall around a country, or texted random gibberish at all hours, or I found out he was skipping his meetings for being boring, watching tv, and constantly eating mcdonalds- I don’t think the world be nearly as shocked. Like it wouldn’t even be fun to bag on. People would just go with it.

If this were the expanding mind meme; loop and swoop and bunnny ears would both be below (in order):
Wear Velcro, wear loafers or shoes without laces, don’t tie, just tuck, plastic bags over socks, don’t wear shoes. Problem solved- debate ended.

Yup. And marges hair hides the fact that she was originally a rabbit. Or at least a lady with rabbit ears, which was going to be revealed as an ending or towards the end of the show.

Lol. It often can, but it can also be a source of misery. But not being ignorant doesn’t have to mean fixation on the less pleasant aspects of a thing. I use the “Santa” example. Kids believe in Santa- it brings them joy. Then they become young adults and tend to stop believing in Santa. This often comes with a “realist cynicism” many teens experience. Then they become adults and realize Santa brings children joy, and is fun for the adult pretending to be Santa too, so wether Santa is real or not the joy and anticipation of Santa are real. We go through phases of life where we discover more information and more perspectives on things and our feelings can change on wether we see things negatively or not. It’s a cycle of disillusion that repeats in many things until we either generally take an apathetic view of things, or accept things as having good and bad points simultaneously.

That’s the missing piece here. Focus. Most of history’s “greats” have had focus. What we choose to focus on is in large part going to have great impact on our mental state. Not enough and you’re over thinking and looking off into the weeds. Too much in the wrong places and you’re missing things that are key to happiness.

That becomes a very deep and philosophical debate. But agreed. What we are aware of and how we choose to interpret that information are two different things.

It’s mind set. If you are informed and intelligent you are aware of the fragility of life and the risks of the world as well as it’s suffering. But you can be aware of risk and still be prepared or accepting of it. The key is in outlook. I could be robbed any time, but I’ve done all I can to protect myself and prevent it. I hope to never have a violent confrontation and have the knowledge and experience to know the risks and consequences, but I don’t live in fear of it as it is simply part of life. Many “realists” are just pessimists justifying their negative outlooks. As you rightly say- and true realist must account for the possibility of the improbable. You don’t change the world or even your own life by precluding your possibilities with “it’s unlikely I can do this so I won’t try.”

It’s true that many of the worlds “great thinkers” have had some type of mental illness or depression. It’s true that studies have shown people who score higher on intelligence tests can have higher rates of mental conditions like bipolar disorder and depression. Many artists as well have had mental illnesses, but intelligence is hard to quantify and creativity (a form of intelligence) even more so. Further more scientists and psychologists are both divided on wether the two are linked in any meaningful way, or if instances are even higher than the general population in artists and “great thinkers.” It’s important to remember correlation doesn’t equal causation, and to not romanticize mental conditions or normalize anxiety and angst as the marks of intelligence.

There’s some truth to that. As my father once said: “Stand for something or fall for anything.” The misunderstanding is the Swiss do pick sides in any war. They pick the Swiss. Neutrality grants near immunity from the ravages of war, while weapons, banking, and other industries insure they profit. Having chosen no sides they are generally assured that regardless of the victor they will not suffer post war consequences, and their military and defensive capabilities are such that it’s an extreme deterrent to any threat. In the western world the Catholic Church has a strong pull that even the nazis were mindful of, so their alliance with the Vatican is further insurance, and holding the money of all sides of a conflict makes aggression less likely as the fall of switzerland would ravage most countries finances. Switzerland wins. That said- war is complex. There’s usually no “good guy,” so by allying with one side you’re also complicit in their misdeeds as well.

But man- can you imagine the apology baskets they must get? “Sorry we conducted “military exercises” in your swimming pool by mistake. We thought it was ours. Please enjoy these chocolate cuckoo clocks, wooden shoes, and assorted cheeses. Still friends? -Switzerland.”

Someone’s going to have to smoke out this minister so we can confirm what kind of person they are when they get stoned. I will admit that shrooms and a couple other substances are just as likely or more likely- but I had to go for the 4/20 joke. It just set itself up.
