I would post stuff, but everything I want to post comes from here. Oh well, comments are enough for me.

South Australia is a state. It's also only about the middle half of the southern half of the mainland.

I found the perfect quote a few days ago, from TV Tropes user TzeTze: "The difference between coding and debugging is analogous to the difference between writing a story and being slowly skinned alive by papercuts over a period of several weeks."

There's also the fact that it isn't Japanese. For starters, there's no "di" sound in Japanese.
Road Trains trucking through Western Australia.. Or are they boating? 12 comments
kamatsu · 7 weeks ago
Yes, road trains. Like the large trucks you often see on freeways, but almost unbelievably longer. Since our train networks only really go near the coasts it's often quicker and more efficient to just drive stuff straight through the middle of the country, especially considering all the towns that are just in the middle of nowhere. Since they carry a relatively train-sized load of cargo of a type that trains often carry, and follow fairly similar routes fairly regularly, but in fact use the roads, they are called road trains.

Wait, wait, I made a mistake with the first reply. I meant to say that depending on what sources you use you find that ALL BUT 3% of gun crime is committed with illegally obtained weapons, but 80% of mass shootings are done with legally-bought guns. Once again, need to look into it further, but I wanted to clarify since I realised I wrote the wrong thing while I was getting off the bus.

The wait period is a separate part of the legislation, I'm pretty sure to prevent spur-of-the-moment purchases from being so simple, but I'll admit that I've forgotten exactly why. Yet again, something I need to check again sometime tomorrow, since it's just plain unfair to level accusations from a country with completely different gun culture without at least a shred of evidence.

I'm sorry, but I just can't believe that a check that takes a few minutes can be as thorough as one that takes a few days without seeing any evidence, which I will go looking for when I have time.
Speaking of evidence, I don't really know which American news services are remotely trustworthy, but depending on which source you use from a quick Google search, 3% of gun crime is committed with illegally obtained guns, but 80% of mass shootings were done with legally purchased guns. To someone in a country that generally just gets news of the big ones, those numbers seem a little incongruous for neither to have been cherry-picked. Of course, I would have read further - burden of proof should probably be on the one bringing up evidence, after all - but it's after midnight and I have an early day at Uni in the morning, so I'll try and find better data than pundits if I have free time tomorrow.

As ironic a saying as it is, I'm sticking by my guns and saying that you could probably safely start by replicating the background checks that we have in Australia (not necessarily ours, but these are the regulations I know). Instead of a check that can be completed in-store in minutes, and gets given the all-clear if it doesn't come back in three days, instead have a check that's in-depth enough to take several days and have a mandatory wait period of 25 days.
Yes, it'll be inconvenient, but for the more thorough checks and the potential to prevent some emotional crimes from having the same severity through the wait period, I'm fairly sure most gun owners, or even enthusiasts, would mind waiting a month. It's all the excitement of pre-ordering a game without the worries of terrible glitches and day-one patches.
And yes, there will be times that it causes issues, but it ought to help far more often than it hinders.

But in any calculations related to temperature they would have used Celsius, or even Kelvin, which is just like Celsius except that instead of the freezing point of water, 0 Kelvin is the freezing point of the universe and physics as we know them.

Yeah, I got a pretty mediocre final grade thanks to screwing up some stuff around exams, but because I did really well in the STAT that I took the weekend after exams finished, so I still ended up getting into my first preference engineering degree. Now I just need to not screw up with exams again...

Because of my dysgraphia I generally try to take notes on my laptop, which is annoying when I have to write equations or draw diagrams, or when there's only about 11% of the battery remaining just after the lecture starts.

ATAR? Generally the Australian school system isn't filled with so many terrible people, though I may be biased due to my dad being a teacher.

I'd be happy to have Positive Possum as our Prime Minister, though, and I doubt they'll have issues regarding dual citizenship.

Sometimes with anime you actually mean it when you say that you watch it for the plot, and not in the 'plot=fanservice' way. Change my mind.
