This isn't true. The Japanese were treated worse in Canada than in the US. All their belongings were taken away and sold by the government. The camps had very harsh conditions, no privacy, little food, and of course, not much to keep warm during the harsh, Canadian winters. The government only officially apologized in 1988, about 40 years later. All the remaining survivors of the camps were only given less than $16,000 (USD).
As well, in world war 1, the Ukrainians in Canada were arrested and their possessions seized. Their families went with them to the internment camps and were forced to work without pay. Even after the war, many were forced to remain.
The Italians were also rounded up and put into camps. Property was seized and in 1990, the prime minister apologized. To this day, there has been no official apology or compensation from the government.
So this is BS. I don't know what internment camp this was, but the ones I've learned about were nowhere near this post
