Concordes had a "New Year's Special". For a ridiculous amount of money, you'd get to celebrate New Year's every time it switched timezone, for the duration of the flight.

Who da fuq is making this shit up? "Hold your horses" has nothing to do with "stables". It's literally "don't act impulsively", because a nervous horse would bolt and run away (and cause grievous damage, for which the owner would be held accountable), so their owners would have to hold them by the reins.

Turkey and Greece have been history-long enemies. However, every time a quake hits Turkey, you can be sure the first boots + paws on the ground are those of Greek first responders. And when Greece gets hit first, it's vice-versa.

No. It just takes something that's already there, and pushes it to an extreme (in this case, corruption and greed). The Olympic Committee already requires that the buildings be reused after the Olympics (it's in their specifications), but there is no way to enforce this.
I live in a country that hosted a European football championship quite a few years ago. All the stadiums that were built from the ground up are still in active public use to this day.
