Ok- lets both clarify what we meant.
Mine was sarcasm in response to how I read yours. I took yours to mean "pat downs are there to make people *feel* safe- despite nothing coming from them". My response isn't meant to be literal, but more of "uh huh- suuure"
Downside of internet not being able to convey sarcasm.

I knocked my ex's batsman picture off the wall during an argument and he responded by punching a massive hole in said wall next to my head. Real lesson- don't overreact.

I actually still have this on VHS and recently got it on DVD. My kids WILL learn what quality movies are.
