Your statement that so many people have the same name is part of my argument. John Smith might get turned down for promotion or denied medical care by somebody that thinks he is THE John Smith from the klan list. Somebody might target him for assault or robbery.

News agencies in New York State decided a few years ago that publishing names and addresses of firearms owners in newspapers would serve their agenda. FOIA gave them access and some areas saw people's names published. Some county clerks fought back and gave us the option to opt out of having our information released. The general consensus was that these published lists would make these people targets.

I understand that they're undesirables. My contention is that crimes comitted against criminals are still crimes. If I punch a heroin dealer in the face and smash his phone I have put him out of business for a few minutes and may have indirectly saved a life that day, but I have comitted a crime doing it.

Hacking a twitter account and a privately owned website for the purpose of damaging them is a criminal act. Are you saying it is ok if you disagree with the opinions of the owner?
