Pretty sure it's only Texas, because they have that whole sovereignty issue, stemming from the clause which in theory allows them to succeed if they try hard enough.
Out of curiosity, do other states have to take 2 years of state history in school before American history? Or is that also just a Lone Star thing?

In Washington we had to take one semester of WA State history in high school.

We don't have a pledge in Canada, but we need to stand up for the National anthem every morning at school

We don't do a state pledge

Most states do the American pledge of allegiance, my question was if people also did ones for their states as well. Cause in Texas we do " I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the united States of America ... " and then we'd pause and go " I honor the texas flag ... " Then a moment of silence and class can resume.

Texas just has to one up everyone at everything

We really do. Our DQ commercials even specifically say " that's what I like about Texas " despite other states having them

Our motto is "everything's bigger in Texas", which for some reason is true. Weather is random ranging from
cold mornings - hot noons
Severe droughts - severe floodings
Not to forget tornadoes
Cold days - hot days
Unexpected Hail storms
Sometimes they all happen within a week.
Also Austin, Texas has its own motto of "keep Austin weird" so life is pretty good.

How could you forget Hurricanes and mosquitos (the unofficial state bird)?
