You know, I know I got bored etc, but I really enjoy how enthusiastic you are about this series. It's always nice to see people genuinely enjoy something like a book series this much

That's okay, it's okay to not like the book, it's totally personal preference
but to me, this book is exactly what I needed, from one of my favorite people ever

If you enjoyed Mistborn, you should definitely check out Sanderson's other books. And check out the Riyria Revelations by Michael J Sullivan. It's another great series.

I will write that down.
Random Question: Which Twinborn powers would you want?
deleted · 5 years ago
Hmm... Steel for Allomancy, brass for Feruchemy (stores warmth. Which would be great for cooling down in the summer and staying warm in the winter). But there are a lot of metals that we don't even understand yet, as you'll find out in book three. Investiture and Identity make for some interesting combinations...

Oh yeah.
I'd go Pewter and Ironmind.
Iron stores weight, and pewter enhances physical abilities.
NINJA

That's the guy who did lectures on writing and one of those was about magic systems lol. I still have one of those bookmarked to watch later. Not too surprised he writes fantasy based on the part of lecture that I've seen, even though I kinda disagree with the guy on which premise for a magic system is better, ie. 'hard' and 'soft'.
Links to the chat in which that stuff was discussed and the lecture:

I'm the one that posted that lecture link. XD
He doesn't really say one is better than the other, just that one works better for his style. I've had a hard time going back to soft magic systems after reading his books though. I like the rules. They're easy to understand and follow.

Yeah, but the matter of fact is that rules are almost always intended to be broken in some way. And even in a soft magic system (like the one i'm currently working with) there are some general rules, but the spectrum of possibilities is much larger and the reader isn't given those rules from the very beginning, and instead have to figure it out themselves.

Now you're ready to read Secret History and see what that butthead is up to.
rydler · 5 years ago
Yeah. And to wait for The Lost Metal to come out.
deleted · 5 years ago
Unfortunately that's not until next year, most likely.

Read Elantris before Secret History, or you'll miss out on some Easter eggs. Then read The Way of Kings, then Warbreaker, then Words of Radiance and Oathbringer.

If you're able to read White Sand (at least volume 1) before Secret History, you'll pick up on more stuff too. There's a character in there that was also in Bands of Mourning, though she wasn't mentioned by name there.
