They've had an extremely consistent rating card from what I'm reading. It seems that they're ending it because both the writing and production team just dont know what more they could do with the series. At a certain point you just cant take the story any further.

It had to eventually, otherwise it would get stale and people would start disliking it. Better to end on a high note and have people be sad over it's departure than to make mediocre seasons and have people lose interest.

Yep it has got very loyal fans....

I imagine there will be books and comics that stretch on for a long time.

I saw that yesterday... They're still gonna do a 15th season though. And I think it's better to not completely screw it over before having to give up. Here they're staying classy. And it will keep living through the crazy fanbase (and the episodes Misha will do in his mom's basement :D)

I’m sad but excited to see things come to an end. Maybe they finally let Adam out of hell and accept him for a brother. Or not.

I honeslty hope heaven is restored and Sam and Dean get to stay dead. I hope their parents will both be there, and they can go on as many hunts as they’d like. That’d be a good ending.

I stopped watching after season 11
