Alright. Groundwork... Players: "Dawn": 61 year old white lady who grew up all over the south.
"Emily": 56 year old Hindu tech coder who isn't very proficient in English when it relates to writing, she can speak it just fine. "Mr. Waffle", boss above both of them.
Setup: Emily doesn't think she reports to Dawn even though everyone, including Mr. Waffle knows she does. Emily has just gotten off a rough pitch in France and wants to come home, take a nap, and get back at it. Dawn wants to know how the meeting went so she can get started on the next day.
A text exchange occurs.
It starts as a friendly text chat until Dawn asks Emily how the meeting went. Emily is upset and replies that it didn't go well. Dawn, as meticulous as she is, implores Emily to tell her why the meeting didn't go well, naturally.
No reply. Dawn asks if it will be better to request information tomorrow. Emily responds that this would be amicable and that she wants to get some rest.
1/2?....

The relentless instinct Dawn is cursed with encourages to pursue deeper, even though she knows Emily is a continent away, tired, and wants to take a nap. Dawn asks if there is ANYTHING Emily can give her, Emily responds in kind by stating she'll tell Dawn everything the next day. Dawn replies with "Nothing?".
In her state, Emily doesn't notice she replied with "Now" instead of "No".
Emily's phone is now constantly being blown up while she's taking a shower, trying to unwind and drift off into a peaceful sleep. Dawn has been spamming her phone, convinced Emily has been taunting her and is now a coward that doesn't want to speak. Dawn gives up, and goes outside to mumble with herself.
Emily exits the shower, taking her time to pamper herself before curling up for bed. After switching into her pajamas and pulling down her bed covers, a flash circles the room. It's the phone going off.... again.
Emily picks up the phone only to notice she has 12 missed calls....

all from the same number. All from Dawn.
Emily has been sick of Dawn and her domineering antics for quite some time. She knows she's not the best when it comes to written communication, but that's not her role, she's a coder, and she's great at her job. Why is this person who thinks she is her boss spam calling her before she goes to sleep halfway around the world?
Instincts take over. The metaphorical pot boils over. In a tense moment of rage, eight nigh-legible text responses fly out. She's had enough, she only wanted some sleep.
The barrage of texts hits Dawn one after another in a twenty second fury; barely enough to keep up with.
Dawn has had enough. She's on the verge of retiring anyway, what's the point of taking any more of this crap? She's decided: either she's gone, or Emily is gone. This decision rests with Mr. Waffle.
Emily, just as furious, has decided she doesn't need an inquisition into the wee-hours into the morning every night from someone she doesn't....

consider her boss.
Mr. Waffle now has one of his employees on hold.
Mr. Waffle has been asleep for five hours. He sleeps alone. He once had a wife, but his job, his love of cars and music, kept him away from any potential family. Thankfully his wife recognized it before he did; there is no ill-will.
Mr. Waffle enjoys his sleep. All day he has hundreds of people complaining to him, when there are people under him they should complain too, and who should then, in turn, complain to him. The complaints are increasing exponentially as the deadline looms closer. Blowing his brains out would be the easy way out.
Mr. Waffle had his sleep interrupted. Naturally, for someone like Mr. Waffle, he doesn't take kindly. Dawn is incomprehensible on the other end of the phone. Something about Emily being a bitch and not a team player.
Mr. Waffle's phone vibrates with the indication that Emily is calling. Emily is complaining about Dawn being overbearing and exhaustive.

Mr. Waffle does his best to mediate for the next three hours, but honestly, sleep calls and at the end of the day, none of this matters to him. Neither Dawn or Emily accept this outcome. Both phone their relatives and friends for advice. Both eventually call Mr. Waffle again, threatening retirement.
Again, Mr. Waffle does not care.
In the corner of the room, Dawn's daughter's voice rings through... "You think (Emily) meant "No" instead of "Now"?
Dawn is shook to the core; now she can't retire for another three months.

Mr. Waffle goes back to sleep, knowing he'll be buttered up in the morning.

Names changed, but all based on a true story.
