I completely understand fam.

Hell it's even worse now because I've started to become somewhat of an audiophile/tech nerd, and now I almost wanna start trying to buy all these namebrand earbuds I don't need, or all these fuckin adapters, and mics.

Damn I feel you, if only everything didn't revolve around money. May I ask what you do for a living? Is there any chance to change your financial situation for the better?
blazingfrags · 3 years ago
I feel you man...also with these sales going on on Amazon and other sites make it worse...
mialinay · 3 years ago
Yes. Bipolarity runs in my family and it's suspected that I might have a weaker form of it - one of the signs is buying stuff in your manic phases. Though I found that I buy stuff in my down phases because I think it will make me feel good. Sorry, didn't wanna make this about me, but I do understand you.

Oh god... So my mom's side is like a 7 layer dip of crazy, so I wouldn't be surprised if it were the same for me.

What have you bought that you regret buying?
captainjackharknes · 3 years ago
Several off brand wireless earbuds, off brand 'smart' watches, stuff like that

Jack? A piece of advice. Budget. I will personally help you make one that will get you somewhere. I make really good money where I am but where I was I made very little. I had two part time minimum wage jobs and I couldn't afford groceries but I still saved and now have a decent amount in investments and have quite a few toys. Self control will get you places you never thought possible.

Good advice from Adam there
Also why did you buy that stuff exactly? Was it boredom or impulses or something else?
captainjackharknes · 3 years ago
Both boredom and impulse buys, mainly stemming from times where I just get really deep into a depressive state, and I just start buying stuff to try and make myself feel better. I hate it when I get like that, because at those times, it feels like I need to get something nice for myself...
cakelover · 3 years ago
Does getting something nice alleviate your low mood, even temporarily?
captainjackharknes · 3 years ago
Sort of, until I check my bank account...

How much do you reckon you could save per month, if you were realistic?
That's quite a personal question, feel free to answer it on the FS Discord or just ignore it entirely. You could say it's none of my business and that would be fair enough

If it sort of helps then brings you back down then that's not what you need to soothe your soul.

Im just gonna let you know my dood, that even though i truly cant say ive been in your shoes, i can say that i as well have suffered and still suffer of depression and anxiety, and many other weird things that i wont go into, but you are not alone my dawg, and you shall not call this burdening, you should be proud that you were able to bring up your struggles into the public. That is the thing i dont see myself ever being able to do. And i tend to soften my scars of trauma with hobbies, explore your personality, find things you enjoy doing, and use that. Find something you are passionate about. And go into it, soooo god damn far into it. Im hoping this helps, it helped me and many other people i know. And pleeaasse, understand that you are not alone, you need flaws in your life to be a person.

That. Right there.
captainjackharknes · 3 years ago
For those saying that, because buying stuff helps, it's okay, it really isn't. I'm not in control of my finances because of all these dumb impulse buys. I barely make it paycheck to paycheck because I keep buying crap I don't need, and I know it's dumb, but I still keep doing it. Hell I'm still always checking the price on the new google pixel buds, even though I know I can neither afford them, and don't need them.
adam44 · 3 years ago
I'm eager to help you with that, bud. I don't want to say much about my finances on here but I went from bust to boom because of my choices. If you really want to control your finances and start enjoying your money then let's chat on discord and get you set up.

How about sorting through all the stuff you bought and don't really need and selling them again online? Might at least make a bit extra money.
