That's an interesting thought.

Interesting idea for a story of a person "lost" in time due to their effect on the time line. Instead of changing "The timeline" what they're exploring is alternate realities.. possibly lost after traveling due to the nonexistent time travel or (insert plot/plot-armor/errand here)

And I don't mean Back to the future type of story

I just had the exact same idea :O

To rephrase:
If time travel gets invented in the future, we wouldn’t know until it does, because any time they go back, they create a new timeline
bensen · 3 years ago
No that’s not what I mean
What I mean is we will never be able to create a time machine as as soon as we do it becomes a parallel timeline
Your theory is good too though :)

Wait why? Do you believe we are living in the only timeline without time travel?
bensen · 3 years ago
No but I think time travel always changes the timeline so perhaps that’s why we never will have it- as as soon as you time travel you screw something up
Meaning that if we did have time travel we wouldn’t be in the same timeline as we are now

I believe we’re on the same line of thinking, just in opposite ways. You believe that we join the new timeline as soon as it gets altered, where I believe a new timeline splits off from us as soon as it’s altered
bensen · 3 years ago
Huh guess we’ll never know
You’re pretty smart :) wanna be friends?

Just remembered that I think the reality doesn’t change- you stay with this reality and the reality that broke off isn’t ours anymore as it goes into a different timeline
