Those are pine trees. You can easily identify them by the bark and needles. If you cut any pine tree in the world, you'll see exactly this. The core is more dense and the darker areas are there for transporting nutrients bottom up. Fully normal tree.

Germany: has all of the above, minimum wage of 9.19€/h (rank 6 in EU), unemployment rate under 4%, crime rate as low as 1992.
Yes, we pay a lot of taxes, but we'll not go to bankruptcy when being picked up by an ambulance, having cancer or going to university and our infrastructure is working.
If we were able to get hold of the money we're losing by tax fraud (roughly 160 billion p.a.), we could be the most modern place in the world. Unfortunately the economically strong tend to be the socially weak.

As long as people really think that right wing shooters are lone wolfs, the problem will persist. We had the same issue in Germany aka the homeland of fascism, and it took more than twenty years for politicians to recognise that there indeed is a very large network with access to war-grade firearms, spreading into federal Police, Military and so on.
You think it's terrorism to punch a fascist or Nazi in the throat? What about the daily racism, fascism and violence people of color, queers and their supporters are confronted with every day?

Why would anyone try to survive on such an island without fishing gear. Firstly, how many edible animals will you find on such a small piece of land and secondly, do you know how hard it to conserve meat without a fridge?
