What baffles me is how mothers got shit done around the house back in the day with no bouncers, walkers, or baby gates. We have it easy with all the cool stuff they have out now. Hell, even disposable diapers are a tribute to parental ingenuity over the years.

Well if you go far back enough, families had lots and lots of children, but usually 30% survived infancy anyway.

I feel like parents don't necessarily think of themselves as superheroes. They just want their kids to grow up believing that their parents are powerful and strong (which is exactly what a kid should think of their parents)

@guest THIS is why I posted a screenshot of something a parent posted. There is a difference between wanting kids to grow up thinking their parents are strong and posting a post on social media claiming what a superhero you are for doing what essentially is your job to do as a parent.

Just because you decide to do something doesn't mean you're not a hero for following through. By that logic, almost all people we consider heroes aren't. Anyway, when my Mom decided to have me, she didn't plan on being a single mother co-parenting a kid with various mental illnesses with an abusive ex-husband. In my book, that makes her a hero.

@sarahj75 ofcourse not, there is nothing wrong with YOU considering your parent a hero. What annoys me is when parents themselves post, posts like the above. Putting your child's needs and wellbeing first/ taking care of your child etc makes you a parent NOT a superhero.
