Who needs to replace batteries anyway?

umm so my family is in a mess right now because of this exact thing. It goes a bit like this:
Mum: The tv remote doesnt work
Dad: go get more batteries
Brother: omg just give it to me *bashes the shit out of it and it works*
Dad: WHY NOT JUST REPLACE THE BATTERIES?!!? We will need to anyway! They are DYING!!
Me: omg just shut up everyone

I just turn the batteries around slightly when it says low battery. I have been using the same batteries for the remote for 4 years

If only this method works on people too...

Does anyone else only replace 1 battery? Even if you have enough to replace them all.
