The term "black box" comes from electronics. It means a device that allows information in but the data can't be modified or changed

Never knew that either. That's pretty cool. Guarantees that it can't be corrupted to show the wrong data. Thanks for sharing that!

That's why they designed them to be practically indestructible. 'Worm' storage is actually very common, cd's are a form of it but the term is barely ever used or taught anymore but dates back to when computers filled a whole room and used punch cards for input.

I always thought it was black until I read this book were these kids had to find it and one of them was like, "Oh, it's not black, by the way, it's orange."

What I was told was that at one point it was black but they had trouble finding it so they made it orange.

It collects all the data generated by flying large jets including all communications between the pilots and ground control, engine speeds, fuel levels, etc. Its used in the event of a crash to try and determine the cause.

I've always known that the black box was orange. One time I told some friends that the black box was in fact orange, they tried to convince me that it was black.. I can tell you, you can't argue with stupid people.

Just because somebody tells me something doesn't mean I'm gonna believe it, it also doesn't make me stupid. It does however make me somebody who is willing to believe you if you show me proof, such as the above image.
