Well. That's enough emotional trauma for one day

Since I never bought the Severus/Lily plotline, I don't feel especially traumatized. Lily was an egoistical asshole who didn't deserve Snape.

First, I hated Snape. When I'd read the last book, I loved him. Then, I realized he's pretty much still a dick, only caring about his own house and practically bullying every damn student. Not just Harry, but also Hermione, Neville, etc, until the point that there was nothing in the world that Neville was more scared of than Snape. If he was really a hero, he would've been way nicer. He could've hold his promise without being a freaking ass.

it doesn't matter what you think of lily. It was snapes undying love that makes it emotional.
