Spend a little time in any decent sized city in the US; you'll hear dozens of languages. And southern, New England, and ghetto dialects are pretty much indecipherable.

Here in the US, the bigots freak out if they so much as hear anyone speaking Spanish.

That sounds horrible to be in such a closed way of living
