Definitely buy a home early, you'll still have to work 30 years, but it will be easier to retire eventually.

Not if you don't refinance. Too many people use their homes as credit cards. If I had heed this advice, I could have retired in my early 50's.

People buying houses they couldn't afford is part of the reason the housing market collapsed. Even if you pay the house off, you still have to worry about upkeep and property taxes. You can't just sit around owning a house.
