While I see no real issue with dog meat, it's the torture that kills me. If you want to eat a dog for some reason, you ought to kill them humanely. It's only fair.
The torture likely did not happen. It is much, much more expensive to torture an animal than it is to just kill it. The overcrowding might be real, but the torture just isn't realistic.
Chickens go through similar things. Some folks who work at chicken slaughterhouses admit to enjoying stepping on or stomping on them cause they like the popping soinds they make when thy die. Thrpwing them against walls was considered fun too. Sadistic people exist and even if the process isn't efficient there are some who do this cause they like it.

I think this is wrong, I think they should be killed humanely at least. Why make it so cruel? Sadistic fucks like this should be curb stomped.
Perhaps you should be tortured to death before being eaten. Or even not tortured (because the even though the evil news networks show it happens, it is clearly fake) but slaughtered then eaten. Food is food after all. Or does that not count?
I'm sure it was frustratingly tempting - but can't imagine HSI doing anything like that. Their reputation would take a serious knock. It's still tempting though!

Whilst I do understand that every culture has differences, this makes me sick and murderously angry. I love animals, if a cat or a dog was about to be run over I'd make sure I'm hit first, I'd defend an innocent animal being abused even if it cost me my life or worse. So seeing them being shoved into small cages and tortured so they'll "taste better" and eaten because of some mystical BS about the summer solstice it makes me want to go on a rampage and save all of them. I'm so glad to see that some people understand how disgusting and inhumane it all is and actually DO something about it! These people are heroes!
I have more of an issue with the torture of these animals before they get eaten. Why do you need to chip they're paws off and leave them there? ( Yes a real story) also half of these dogs were people's pets some have microchips. Hope and wellness foundation helps a ton
Well done HSI - a terrific result even if you weren't able to save all the pups but you all did a great service to the canine world - and another strike against the Yulin "festival". There's a number of videos showing how dogs are prepared to eat both small scale and large scale. It's pretty freaking brutal. For some reason they don't feel it's necessary to kill the damn things before skinning or cooking them.
Yeah I tried to reason with them and show them videos but it was like talking to a fucking brick wall.
Edit: He's also the same jackass who bashes religion regularly, tried to start a big ol' religious debate with me, and said "I hope I started you on the path to becoming an atheist" or whatever.
