Why do judges break the nib after passing a death sentence

Jail is for thieves and smugglers. Every breath allowed to murderers and rapists is an insult to their victims and all of decent society.

You don't think they should suffer for a long time rather than have a quick out?

They aren't worth the time, the effort, or the resources.

Agreed, @famousone . A life for a life.

It takes a certain level of apathy to not only condemn a life you dearth but also to execute that person.
The murdered is not coming back from the dead to kill his or her murderer. With the logic of a life for a life what's to stop the hurt impassioned family of the murderer from killing the executioner? If you killed someone for killing someone you loved and are executed for it what makes the guard any better than the murderer?
People are still people, they still have families and loved ones regardless of their actions.

It's not murder of it's provoked or justified.
Keep the executioners anonymous.

People are people, but we are also animals. And there is only one way to deal with murderously crazed animals.

and thought I'd see more people against this...

I'm against it mainly because of wrongful convictions.
