I always dreaded vacations during summer break because some parents seem to forget that the point of a vacation is to have fun or relax.
I have nothing wrong with having a basic timeline down (when you'll leave, what time you should arrive etc) but when your checklist of fun activities turns into a schedule that lists everything down to bathroom breaks I think it's time to back off
My parents just bitched on the drive to something allegedly fun, we didn't spend any time enjoying ourselves there, and drove back, so I honestly envy you.
when i was younger, going on vacation was great, get to sleep in, yes my dad woke early. but as i attempt at being an adult, i realise, if i go on vacation, pay for vacation, i don't want to waste my vacation sleeping in
Oh I don't know, maybe the lesson is don't be an ungrateful little shit when your dad goes out of his way to spontaneously show his family how much he loves them? It might've been uncomfortable, but he did the best he could. Be glad your dad is still alive, still around, loves you and takes time for you. Not everyone is that lucky.
