My grandmother would always use the "colored" bathrooms. She said because they kept thier bathrooms cleaner than the "white" bathrooms. Plus all her friends were black, she said it started as we would talk and all go to the bathroom together and first couple times I didn't even notice what I did. It wasn't till my friend Patty May said "Midge you do realize this is the "coloreds" bathroom?" And she said it like I walked into the boys bathroom. So I said, "And...??? O am I not allowed in here?" Her friend just laughed and held my grandmother tight and said never mind.
My grandmother was a tiny petteit woman only 5'2 and weighed only 94 pounds ALL her like except when she was pregnant with my Dad than my aunt those times she ballooned like a pregnant cat filled with 20 kittens. With my Dad in the last few weeks she couldn't even walk. He was a BIG baby weighed 10lbs. Anyways lol she was this tiny little thing and so to her friends she was like their sweet little mascot.
