If the story leaks are true then I just dont think it'll have a good story. I understand what its trying to say, but I dont think they do it right.

Although, for the record, Ellie supposedly full-on tries to scissor with another girl in the sequel, so if that's what you call "making out," then I suppose I can see why some people might have a problem given I can't recall a single sex scene in the first series.

What if I told you that peoples' main problems with it have to do with the fact that Sony, NaughtyDog, and the rest are taking a game about zambies and stuffing it full with social politics? And to be clear, by and large the villains in the game are White, they are Christian, and they are males. Because the developers wanted to pick a target they knew would not be allowed to defend themselves. If they try, they are automatically "homophobic," "sexist," etc. Very stunning of them. Much brave.

This was handled poorly enough that sony/naughtydog had to release a statement explaining the dog killing is an option, but not entirely necessary. You can also run for your life and hope you get away.

But yeah, tl,Dr: it's mostly because NaughtyDog jumped on the social politics bandwagon, disrespected a lot of people along the way (including their own staff), and then proceeded to label their fans bigots and phobes for voicing genuine concerns, before promptly attacking the fanbase and internet as a whole.

They've alienated a huge portion of their fanbase with the censorship, never apologized, literally don't give a fuck that they are taking away peoples' livelihoods and freedom of speech, and then use smoke and mirrors to force a narrative that this game is the best of all time and everyone in the whole world loves it.
Yeah, that's what I dont like about it. I don't even give a shit about the trans stuff or lesbian stuff, what matters to me is that you play a vindictive spiteful bitch who murders who main 2 protagonists of the first game out of pure angst, effectively saying to the player "yeah, that choice Joel made at the end of the first game? That was the wrooooooong move" instead of leaving it up to interpretation like it was before.
It would be like if the next legend of zelda game starred golbo the bokoblin who slaughters link and zelda bc they woke him up from his nap. It's just a terribly executed story
I'm really hoping the game let's you choose which character to follow so there's an option to butcher that murdering bitch with Ellie's knife, but I won't be buying the game until I know it isn't as bad as it sounds.

No but it's completely shitting on the original game with how it's done. It's not even a proper sendoff, he just gets golf clubbed to death by this crazy chick
I feel it's true to the setting. How many men better and worse than him and Ellie did they ambush and beat to death with bludgeons and clubs?
The sendoff would be Ellie's quest for vengeance. Nobody cares to avenge a good death.

My personal thoughts are: I don't care if Ellie is gay. Or that there's a trans person. But I'm not there for some story about persecution of gays during an apocalypse where the very air you breathe can turn you into a blood-thirsty plant-zombie. Sexuality should never be the focal point of this particular series.

I don't mind that Joel dies (though I think Ellie does too). I dislike that they use that as an excuse to FORCE people to play as the trans character.

It fits just about as well as if in the next Dark Souls you suddenly have some meandering backstory about how the character you play secretly has a foot fetish.

Combine that with NaughtyDog's disgusting internet tactics and the entire thing ends up as one big ad for lbtq that says "you will place us on a pedestal or you will be destroyed"
The entire thing just feels too...fanfictiony to me. Thats the part I dont like. Some new person waddles into the story, kills everyone from the original out of spite, and theres lesbians and pregnancies and stuff. Honestly sounds like a middle schooler wrote it, not a team of professionals
It's written by people so insecure in their own ability they have to latch onto the lbtq bandwagon to get relevance, Pay off or threaten journalists to earn accolades, and silence or dehumanize anyone who would speaks against them.

Also since Ellie is technically infected with the fungus, I wouldn't even share my food with her, let alone kiss her. That's just begging to get infected.
She's not even immune, she's just an asymptomatic carrier since she had fungus in her brain. Getting intimate with her will end about as badly as it did in 28 Weeks Later.
Just a quick update - so far the game seems to be quite nice. Hubby is not a fan of the saving system and the scripted events, but the gameplay itself is really nice. It's only his second evening playing though, work and kid got in the way...
