I just don't like SAO cause the logic is flawed. Like, glaringly so.

Yeah. And not in that “meh, it’s light fantasy fun not a documentary” way, but in that: “they don’t bother to make rules and when they do they break those anyway” sort of way. The setting of “game world” really isn’t even a setting, more an excuse on how to set things up and be able to say “this happened because it’s a game so anything can happen…”

I’m not going to say SAO is “bad,” and I love Gun Gale. I will say there are a lot of people who don’t like SAO and who are long time Anime fans and have watched a lot of Anime and have valid criticisms. If you like SAO then those criticisms don’t apply for you. If you have never watched it and aren’t sure, see who likes it and why they say it is good, and see who doesn’t and why they say it isn’t; and decide based on what you like and don’t if it sounds like your thing. It’s true of most fandoms but especially in anime that there is a paradoxical “gate keeping” and “lame stream” culture where many hate seeing their favorite properties be enjoyed by mass audiences, and a culture where if someone doesn’t like the same thing as you it’s taken as a personal attack.

Many people love “Jojo’s” or “Naruto” but many people aren’t in to “battle anime” and spending 4 episodes getting through dialog and fights to move the plot. It’s fine. Not everything is for everyone. Don’t let the fact that other people don’t like your favorite thing diminish it to you. It isn’t an attack on you or your taste to say: “I don’t like this.” As someone who’s been watching anime since before the target audience of SAO was born, I can say it isn’t “anime fans vs. others” when it comes to SAO. Me and lots of other hard core anime fans don’t like SAO. It’s certain SAO fans vs. apparently anyone who doesn’t like it. If you’re an anime fan on the real you should be used to the fact that some people don’t like what you like, and some people won’t even watch anime at all because it is anime or “cartoons.” Maybe they’re missing out or maybe not. You can say why you like it but that won’t change that other people don’t.
