As I'm almost convinced that @bethorien's name is just that: her name, I based this entry on her profile pic: a Tech-Priest from Warhammer 40k. (I think Bethorien would work as a 40k name, too.)

While there are no Machine Cultists in Yugioh (except maybe Cyber Angel players), I feel a Cyborg Doctor — https://yugipedia.com/wiki/Cyborg_Doctor — could awaken the Machine Spirit and serve the Machine Emperor just as well.

I am as well. Runes just have a magical quality to them, don't they. I know it's probably because they've been mystified within the Anglosphere, and at the end of the day they're just a writing system. Even so, I can't look at them or runestones and not think some one will use them to call forth the powers of ancient Norse mythology. (Yes, even if the stones have a cross on them.)

Yeah yeah, there's an underscore in @guest_'s name, I know; but Yugioh usually doesn't use those. And now that they've returned, I look forward to seeing what textual murals they shall craft.

The card art used is Ceasefire — https://yugipedia.com/wiki/Ceasefire —. (I don't know how many fires @guest_'s comments have stopped, but the depiction of writing seemed appropriate.) The guys in the art don't actually have separate cards. And Spell Chronicle — https://yugipedia.com/wiki/Spell_Chronicle — is also a real card. I think its symbolism is rather obvious.

Oh wow, I literally had no idea that's what it was called until now. But yeah, that is indeed the game. Thank you.

Oh, this guy again. I guess it's just time for his daily routine of butting in where he's not wanted.

Thanks. If I remember, it actually had Frogs and Flies on it, and a weird submarine game.

Well, it's not worse than the flu...yet. But it is in the top 5 of most deadly pandemics in history (up from 8, last I checked). So the efforts of the brave disease spreaders, uh sorry, free thinkers are definitely paying off.

I don't know about wholesome, but loudly proclaiming one's displeasure does seem to be in right now.

@captainjackharknes's name is based on Captain Jack Harkness, a character from Doctor Who, and his own series called Torchwood. I'll keep it short and say he's essentially an action guy who fights aliens (when he's not trying to bang them). So a spy type with fancy gear felt like a suitable representation.
Thus, the card art used is from SPYRAL GEAR - Fully Armed — https://yugipedia.com/wiki/SPYRAL_GEAR_-_Fully_Armed —. And the monster featured in the art is SPYRAL Super Agent — https://yugipedia.com/wiki/SPYRAL_Super_Agent —.

And of course, there's also the Harkness Test on what you should consider before, um, engaging an alien: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/harkness-test
*
(I wonder if he can still also be summoned by mentioning Froppy.)
